Funding/Grants/Fundraising Committee Report:

1. Brandi and Gabi talked to Boomer from the DS Pride committee about becoming a nonprofit. He said that the reason they were able to get so many corporate sponsors this year was because they became a nonprofit. He gave them his card and is willing to give us lots of advice to get through the process.
2. Is this something we want to pursue in order to help finance events like the film fest? Yes. Could we do it through having a cosponsor of the film fest who is already a nonprofit? Maybe.

Film Fest Committee Report:

1. Mark your calendars!!! The next film festival will be April 18 and 19, 2008
2. Keep your eyes open for new movies and money sources
3. We would love to recruit more members. Anybody out there interested in screening movies? Please email [email protected]
4. Another idea that came from DS Pride is to invite students from the area universities to make short films to show at the film fest that are GLBTA oriented, 10 minutes or less and appropriate for public viewing and on a DVD
   • We brainstormed ideas which included: juried by students, give them prizes (ex. gift card to university book stores), open to high schools.
   • Possible contacts include the high school social justice conference on Oct 30, film faculty at SCSU and the other universities.
   • Jerry and Brandi will make an invitation.
5. Brandi brought a list of new movies that we can check out. We agreed that we should keep award winners on the list even if they have been shown on TV – like Camp Out for example which has local connections.
6. It was suggested that we contact local restaurants to possibly give folks a discount with a ticket stub.

1. GAB Dance 9/22 at the Re Carpet. GAB potlucks are still going on. Next one is 9/29 in Gilman. See the GAB skinny for directions.
2. The Mississippi Bean is no longer open in the evenings so we will be changing our meeting location. Chris will contact Caribou Coffee to see if we can meet there. In the meantime, keep your eyes open for an announcement.
