Secretary's Report:

  1. Minutes were approved with minor changes. Gary S. was added to who was present at the last meeting.

Treasurer's Report:

  1. $3,296.16 is in the account.
  2. Most income and expenses are with the Film Fest.

Funding/Grants/Fundraising Committee Report:

  1. Nothing to report

Film Fest Committee Report:

  1. We have some films, but most films come out in Jan to Feb.
  2. There are big things to do like:
    • Program Ads - We have a list of former sponsors.
    • Publicize the Film Fest.
  3. The date is set for April 17th and 18th.
  4. It is at the Pioneer Place on Fifth.
  5. We are looking for additional people with new ideas.
  6. There are donations from:
    • Philanthrofund $250 for a mention in our program
    • GLBTA Services $500

Films:

  1. Rachel has sent 30 info packets out and has responses from half of them, if not next year then for next year and could have ongoing submissions.
  2. In the past we have only brought in directors and actors.
  3. The Film Film has been self sufficient in the past because grants have strings.
  4. Sponsorship funding has consisted of Philanthrofund, GLBTA Services, and GAB. Corporate sponsorships are difficult, because we are not a 501c(3) organization.
  5. Program ads bring in half of the money.
  6. The Film Fest has been setup with Friday having the artsy or thought provoking films shown and Saturday having films that are for entertainment.
  7. Expenses consist of entertainment, advertising, ASL and tech costs.
  8. A WIKI has been set up for the Film Fest and Brandi will email invitations to the WIKI.
  9. Rachel has been getting inquiries from independent film makers.

  1. Locating films and distributors 2 - 3 people
  2. Negotiate Prices 2 - 3 people
  3. Contact advertisers 3 - 5 people
  4. Create marketing materials 1 - 2 people
  5. Work with venue owner 1 person
  6. Locate and schedule speakers 2 - 3 people
  7. Locate and schedule entertainment 2 - 3 people
  8. Working with local media 1 - 2 people
  9. Isolde (Service Learning at St Cloud State) and students will do 15 hours of marketing work for
    the Film Fest. Isolde would like to translate the info packet into German. She recommended the movie Four Minutes for us to screen.
  10. Marnie will post her contacts and put a call for submissions on Craig's List.
  11. We divided into committees for Entertainment, Program Ads, and Films.

What makes a movie good?

    1. Not too sexually explicit
    2. Not too artsy
    3. Broad but not mainstream
